Urgent Update September 2018
It is with GREAT REGRET that due to very adverse weather forecast conditions for Sunday 23rd September It has been decided to cancel the Event Tomorrow. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the exhibitors, the organisers and everybody that has invested time and effort in to this event and hope we can carry our enthusiasm on to the next event.
There is little point in the exhibitors and the residents of Burgess Hill getting soaked for the sake of it and it would not be enjoyed.
Once again thank you for all of your efforts and we are so so sorry to have take this action so late in the day.
August came with many classic car events supported by our members,
Stanmer Park, The Burgess Hill U3A 25th Celebration at Burgess Hill Academy
where the Weald and the U3A Classic car group exhibited over 20 cars which were all members of the club and or the BH U3A owned. The Lamb at Plitdown, was supported but the weather interrupted the event for the first time for me this season. Our monthly meeting and Breakfast went well and were well attended.
We are now looking forward to our big event of the year CLASSICS IN THE TOWN.
We are so far up to 80 vehicles and hoping and praying for good weather.
All exhibitors are meeting up at the Cyprus Road Car Park at 8.30/9.00 am and being marshalled round to the precinct in groups.
July went well with a high attendance at our Club Night and Breakfast. Some of us attended Local car shows at Plumpton and Hoo in Kent.
Looking forward to August with the U3A 25th Celebration where we are exhibiting 20 cars
at the Burgess Hill academy on Saturday followed by our annual Weald BBQ on the Sunday. We are taking bookings now for our Classics in the Town event on Sunday September 23rd, Please book we are looking to exceed our 60 cars of last year.
Our Bonnets up club evening for June was very good with close to 30 classics turning up
and a prize presented for the best presented car judged by the membership. Won by a
Red 240 Z. I must confess was the right choice. The following Saturday saw the annual Marquees at Spencers Dinner in the Garage, What a great night had by all.
Followed by our monthly Breakfast. Our Classics in St Johns Park was once again a very enjoyable event. We also fitted in Classics at the Plough Pub Plumpton. Which is now a regular monthly event to add to our calendar All helped by great sunny weather in June and long may it last. Sunday 1st of July sees us at the Woolpack Burgess Hill for another good event with live music and many attractions.
I would like to thank the members for their subscription renewal and welcome the new members that have joined us.
April May June Update.
April saw our AGM the turnout was a little disappointing as we had an interesting speaker from our chosen charity of the year Chailey Heritage. After a short AGM where the committee were re-elected as of last year with the exception of Peter Moule who passed away during the year. Our Breakfast was well attended and enjoyed.
May a number of the members attended the Oakwood Farm Classic car show at Wivelsfield and the Staplefield Fete. Both very well supported and enjoyable.
The highlight of June so far has been the Classics in the Park and our Bonnets up at the Weald on our Tuesday club night, with over 20 car at both events.
Subs are well overdue to those who have not yet paid and a thank you for those who have.
February ended with yet another great Breakfast and Drive and Dine at the Fox and Hounds, Marques at Spencers Brunch along with our Club night with the evening of Horse racing on Video almost made up for the postponement of the Brands Hatch Track Day. Now looking forward to our outside activities and the reappearance of our pride and joys in the coming spring. We have added an extra monthly event as the Stanmer Park Classic Meet, Brighton is proving very popular every 1st Sunday of the month. Our March Club night went well and our Drive and Dine will take place Please do not forget our April Meeting is also our AGM so please contact your committee should you wish to add to the agenda or put yourself forward for a position on the committee.
The organising of our 2 Burgess Hill Classic Car shows are well underway with the new Banners and Posters being designed and produced for the club. One of our
early prototypes is on the left. We are this year hoping for close to 100 vehicles in
September with the Scouts providing light refreshments along with their popular Doughnuts subject to certain permissions being obtained.
The Breakfast and Drive and Dine were enjoyed and well attended considering the time of year. Some of us braved the winter weather to attend the Classics at Stanmer Park that is held every 1st Sunday of the month
Our belated Xmas dinner was a great enjoyable evening with a high attendance. It was a shame the Brands Hatch Track day got postponed due to bad weather. Our club night went well with a video race night. March club night is a talk on a MV Augusta motorcycle presented by our own Vice Chair and Landlord Bob Martin. Sound like a good night not to be missed.
As we now move into March it is reminder time that the subs are due, the new year starts 1st April 2018. The subscription remains at £12.00 for the year.
If you would like to stand as a committee member please ask one of the committee for a nomination form that must be in 14 days prior to the AGM.
