AGM 2019 April Update

Well we are here again another season upon us. I never thought when I came in to Bobs pub back at the beginning when four of us sat in the corner to see if we could get a small group together for the BH U3A. with interest in Classic cars, non of us had classic cars. Small problem !!! Bob stepped in and offered to do a talk on his Vincent Black Shadow. Hence the Classic Vehicle club we now boast a coach and fire engine. And the rest as they say is history. Thanks to every member for there participation and support.

2018 has been a very good year for events thanks to members wishing to get involved. We have attended many Classic car shows around the area including very enjoyable and popular Marques at Spencers thanks to member Ian Spencer  also holding one or two of our own.  Classics in the Park. Classics for the BHU3A anniversary. Unfortunately our biggest 2018 event Classics in the town was beaten by the only bad weather of the summer last year. But this year it will be back bigger and better than ever. Our Monthly Meetings have had some good content thanks to members providing entertaining presentations. Namely Nick and Steve. With the odd quiz and race night thrown in. Our Bonnets up evenings proved very popular. As you are aware we have plans for another eventful year this coming year with all of our regular favourites plus the return of the Burgess Hill Duck Fair on July 13th at Worlds End and more if you membership can think of them as it is your club.

The Monthly Drive and Dine continue to do well. Thanks to Tony and Linda’s efforts at different venues, along with our Monthly Breakfast held mainly at Heaven Farm Tea Rooms we have had as I said a very enjoyable and active 2018. Finally a mention of our selected Charity Chailey Heritage which we will continue to support, we did managed to raise some funds for them but they are mostly appreciative of the awareness we provide for them. There enterprise centre provide our Promotion material. Including window stickers and Baseball caps.

The Website is our highest cost after insurance so please make use of it. I know its not the best design but it is informative providing I keep it up to date. Any Content or Images you would like put on it, please send them to me via the club g.mail address.

Dates to remember  9th June. 13th July, 3rd August, 22nd September.

Thank you all the members who have renewed their membership it is well appreciated and for those who have not there is still time and you are very welcome.

A big thank you to our new members we have had 5 since the start of the season. I do hope they get a lot of enjoyment out of the membership as indeed I do.

                                    April 2019.

Starting with the business end It is our AGM at the next Club Meeting Tuesday 9th April 7.30 pm and please

We continued with our program of events through the darker evenings of winter and early spring. Our March club night, breakfast and drive and dine curry evenings were well attended. The club night was a very good presentation on some classic rallying by our member Steve Everest that kept us entertained (Thank you Steve). Breakfast was again at Heaven Tea Rooms and enjoyed by all. We did have one casualty poor Andy Stove had a breakdown on his way home in his Porsche and was rescued by another members Ian Pinney.  The Curry evening at the Masala club was a great success and the food was excellent. Now the clocks have gone forward it will (weather permitting) be our first bonnets up of 2019 in April after a short AGM. We welcome a couple of new members this month and one returning member who has returned to a Classic car again (MGB Roadster).
